RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare through RedTeam, BlueTeam, and other real-world simulations
  • Protect Go Daddy infrastructure by containing and eradicating adversaries through:
  • Real time monitoring, detection and analysis of potential intrusions
  • Historical trending analysis of security event data
  • Innovate through constant improvement in rules, tools, knowledge, and automation
  • Document and learn from security incidents to provide recommendations and awareness to the organization
  • Collaborate with Go Daddy teams to continue to improve our security posture and be upstanding citizens within the security community
  • Support and respect each other while passionately working together to realize our vision

REQUIREMENTS:                                                                

  • Good grasp of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and networking protocols and concepts
  • Written and verbal communication skills for event coordination and reporting
  • Emerging understanding of Denial of Service attacks and mitigation tools and strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or relevant security experience
  • Certifications are a plus, but not required and include: ISC2(CISSP etc.), GIAC(GCIA, GCIH, GCFA, GREM, GNFA etc.)

A successful Security Engineer requires a diverse skillset.  The following outlines expectations for a Security Engineer IV in the GoDaddy Computer Security Incident Response Team:

Emerging ability to:

  • Instill security concepts in cross-departmental architecture reviews as well as other strategic technical and product discussions
  • Evangelize security best practices
  • Perform threat research of adversaries, such as attacker campaign analysis, frequency and trending analysis, predictive attacker/victim relationship models using Diamond Model, analysis of external sources of threat information for validity in our environment
  • Perform static/dynamic analysis of binaries

Intermediate knowledge of:

  • Threat modeling
  • Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis 

Intermediate ability to:

  • Correlate and analyze observables from security events within the network
  • Coordinate response efforts to threats across the industry
  • Perform memory analysis with Volatility or Rekall

Advanced knowledge of:

  • OSI Model
  • Incident Response Lifecycle
  • Cyber Kill Chain
  • Windows
  • Linux
  • Threat Landscape
  • Agile methodologies
  • Security coding practices
  • OO analysis and design and design patterns

Advanced ability to:

  • Utilize a programming language (Python, Go, Java etc.)
  • Solve complex problems by implementing solutions using the most appropriate programming languages, best practices, and/or tools specific to technology platform and tier (front-end, middle, database)
  • Conduct security investigations
  • Conduct forensic analysis for security events
  • Troubleshoot
