Position Description: 

This position is on the Okta Product team, which builds the Okta Identity Cloud.

The Technical Marketing team members are product experts who enable technical sales to understand and sell the product. We also understand how customers use the product and leverage insights about that to prioritize the roadmap with Product Management. If that sounds important, that’s because it is.

So, we need someone technically savvy with solid experience in SaaS or a comparable industry, who can enable Okta’s world class sales team, customer success team, and partners to understand and sell Okta. Understanding technical concepts deeply and articulating them clearly requires strong communication, presentation, and writing skills in addition to technical chops. A strong candidate will possess all of these attributes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute world-class technical enablement for Okta’s presales engineering team.
  • Be strategic: Contribute meaningful insights to the product management team to ensure that Okta builds the right product.
  • Pull information from almost every team in the company to understand the challenges and successes of customers on a deep technical level.
  • Create demo environments that demonstrate key Okta differentiators and customer value drivers for the Okta service.
  • Research current market and adjacent market competitors and analyze technical differentiators.

Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
  • 4 or more years of experience in a technical role
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Enthusiasm for security and systems management products and services
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with fiercely competing priorities
  • Very strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, prospects, and partners

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities that are a HUGE plus

  • Identity Management and/or Authentication expertise
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup or SaaS business
  • IT Administration background, especially AD/LDAP or networking
  • Working knowledge of Java, Python or .NET and REST-based APIs.
