About the Role

Minted is seeking a Director of Merchandising Operations to lead the launch of our products to our company's website,

The Director of Merchandising Operations holds a key leadership position within the company, overseeing the team that brings our product to life on the site. The ideal candidate will be passionate about managing and motivating teams, excellent at both the strategy and details involved in managing operations, and someone who loves optimizing technology-driven processes and developing product requirements for internal systems and tools.  This individual will also have a passion for design and art, an affinity for the company’s mission to bring opportunity to emerging independent designers and artists around the world, a natural instinct for design details, and a desire to build a career within a creative company and industry.  This position reports into the Vice President of Crowdsourcing Design and works cross-functionally with many teams across the organization.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Optimize our merchandising operations strategy, organization, processes, and tools with a focus on exceptional quality, cost effectiveness, and scaling as Minted launches into new businesses.
  • Be the champion of quality for our design launch process, bringing a perfectionist obsession to the launch of our independent designers’ products in a way that honors them and upholds our brand.  This pertains to the quality of product images and writing, design execution and translation to the customization engine, quality of printable files, and more.
  • Lead the Merchandising Operations team through the process of launching products (SKUs) to the site.  Hit key product launch timelines on-time and on-budget.
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for merchandising operations to enable faster, more cost-efficient launches. Work hand-in-hand with our product team to develop and test tools and processes that streamline product launches and create a better experience for merchandising associates and our community artists, while maintaining our high bar for quality.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization, including Merchandising (product strategy), Operations (post-order operational efficiency), and Product Management/Engineering (systems & technology).
  • Manage a team, define the organizational structure and team incentives, and recruit and retain talent
  • Define, monitor, and report against key metrics, including cost, efficiency and quality.

Experience and Skills

  • 5-7 years of strong operations strategy and project management background, ideally with a few years of experience in management consulting
  • Deeply quantitative and analytical and proactively drives analysis and strategy. The ideal candidate loves data and is able to analyze a problem, use data to articulate a recommendation, and take action accordingly
  • Comfortable with both process and systems design
  • Has experience managing a team, ideally in an operational function
  • A successful history of working cross-functionally to influence others and execute projects
  • Outstanding follow-up, organization, and time management skills
  • Results-driven and focused with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Self-starter with an ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities. Able to multi-task and meet deadlines while still paying attention to details and executing flawlessly.
  • A strong interest in art and design and building a career within a creative company and industry
  • An obsession with details, in particular visual and design details.
  • Excellent communication & influence skills - to senior management, to other functional areas, and to the merch ops team.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA a plus
