Category Planning is looking for a Project Manager to drive Category Management projects and initiatives. Category Planning is a hub for technology, analytics and operational needs of Category Management and Central Buying. Members of Category Planning are tasked with improving workflows of the various teams they support, while providing strategic insight and tactical support on all areas of the Wayfair business. We are also one of the first places to look at, when cross-functional and Category Management involved projects need to be tackled. 

The Project Manager will have the ability to jump head-first into cross-functional projects but also work with the support of an experienced Analyst e.g. on monthly reporting requirements. For both (s)he will have to sift through large amounts of data, draw conclusions and interact daily with stakeholders from several teams, including: Engineering, Merchandising, Finance, Operations, DASH, Category Management, Pricing, and more. This is a role for someone who thrives working on cross-functional projects with a “can do” attitude, the willingness to get to the bottom-of things and an eye for details.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive a wide range of projects and initiatives, from large-scale cross-functional projects to strategic supplier outreaches
  • Manage monthly reporting requirements that cover more than 10 business functions and the entire Wayfair EU business
  • Work with Associate Director to work on long-term Category Planning roadmap
  • Prioritize competing interests and focus project plans on the highest impact activities
  • Help define new and improve existing processes across functions
  • Define strategy for cross-functional initiatives and supplier outreach, facilitate execution across departments
  • Use SQL, data analytics, and other research tools to find patterns and identify root causes

 Skills/Requirements:

  • BA with strong academic record plus several years of experience 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and motivation to move beyond existing practices
  • Strong analytical aptitude or background with a focus on details and a willingness to “get to the bottom” of things
  • Advanced SQL knowledge
  • Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skill
  • First experiences in process definition and improvement
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience in managing people a plus
  • Able to drive multiple threads of work to completion
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Positive, energetic attitude with a can-do mentality
  • Excel crack
