Senior Manager, Inventory Strategy

We are looking for a strong leader to drive our inventory strategy and execution. At Wayfair, we aim to be highly efficient with our inventory investments. We use inventory to selectively drive growth in key categories. We need a leader to define the approach for investing in inventory, execute the approach and measure the success
The Senior Manager of Inventory Strategy will own our inventory strategy, partnering closely with category managers, warehouse operations, fulfillments services and other cross functional teams. You will define the parameters under which we will decide to invest in products, leverage forecasts to determine quantities of selected items and manage sell through of inventory through our sales channel. You will be measured on the efficiency of the inventory program as well as the category growth enabled by your choices. You will manage of team of managers and analysts who are in charge of executing the inventory strategy. This is a high impact role that can drive both revenue growth as well as profit improvement.

• Develop our strategy for inventory
• Work with internal and external technology providers to operationalize the inventory strategy
• Drive continuous improvement in our inventory process
• Measure and report on inventory effectiveness (turns, profit, revenue lift, etc)
• Lead a team of inventory managers and analysts who are executing the inventory plan
• Working closely with cross functional teams to ensure that the inventory strategy meets business needs

Skills and Requirements:
• 8+ years relevant experience, preferably in management consulting, ecommerce or retail environment
• Ability to lead a team of forecasters to consistently meet KPI goals
• MBA or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience building a business or delivering against aggressive targets & goals in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
• Senior presence; able to clearly and consistently work side-by-side with a broad range of seniorities and functions to achieve objectives
• Analytical thinker who looks for (and finds) answers in the data
• Articulate, persuasive communicator with excellent negotiations and relationship-building skills
• Ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter
• Ability to manage and prioritize projects, and to delegate tasks appropriately
• Innovative problem-solving skills – dissect and determine root causes of problems, and implement solutions
• Experience in business and data analytics, Excel
• Proven track record of leadership, taking ownership and driving results
• Process oriented, with a tireless focus on quality of output and throughput
