Technical Product Manager, Marketing Platforms

Wayfair’s Marketing Platforms team is looking to bring on a talented product owner to define, design and deliver products that maximize the return on our marketing programs.  This individual will work with internal departments and external vendors to ensure that a key piece of our marketing technology stack meet the needs of Wayfair’s business.  You’ll leverage your understanding of big data infrastructure, system architecture, and project management techniques to translate complex business problems into engineering solutions. 

This role also requires both a strong quantitative mind and the ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of the technology that powers big data, supports marketing channels, and connects customer to our products.  Excellent communication and organizational skills will fuel the fast pace and quick iterations necessary to bring your product from conception to perfection.

You will work on one of the platforms below:

Customer Intelligence:  We aim to provide customers with a  personalized experience that helps them find the perfect product for their home.  Making sure our applications understand who a customer is and what they’ve done on site is essential to our efforts. 

Events and Integrations:  Over 50M events occur on Wayfair’s sites every day.  This product will ensure event data is timely, collected in a scalable way, and easy to access for analytical needs across the organization.  You will move us to a real-time streaming architecture for analytics that enables faster decisions across the company.

Notifications :   We have many touchpoints with our customers across e-mail, push notifications, and on-site notifications.  This product will ensure we send the right personalized message to each customer at the right time through the optimal channel.  You will work across teams to improve the logic behind notifications, build next generation notification channel platforms, and ensure our notifications infrastructure can support our growth.

Ad Tech:  You will build a proprietary data management platform for segmentation, dynamic ad server, and media buying infrastructure to activate our customer data through paid ad campaigns, reaching customers wherever they are online.  Your technology will optimize millions of dollars in monthly ad spend.

Campaign Automation:  You will build the tools to automate our ad campaign setup, management, and reporting.  Your product will help us bid on ads, generate campaigns, and ensure performance data flows back into our reporting platforms, generating much stronger ROI for our business.


  • Gather requirements and define roadmaps in collaboration with the marketing and engineering teams.
  • Work across several departments to assess needs and adjust priorities
  • Be our industry expert on the product field, including best practices and the technical details of how your products work
  • Maintain a product roadmap/vision that will take the product from inception, MVP to polished product and beyond
  • Interpret business requirements into technical specifications while working with Engineering to understand and overcome limitations
  • Be agile in order to quickly iterate on product features and analyze effectiveness, pivoting when necessary
  • Ensure quality of products, timeliness of projects and training / feedback of users


  • 3 - 5 years Product Management experience, with a focus on delivering products and improvement iterations
  • Strong sense of ownership for your product
  • Proven analytical / quantitative analysis skills, especially when working with web-based (big) data. Statistical analysis a plus
  • SQL experience a plus
  • Technical software understanding beyond buzzwords. The ability to read and understand multiple coding languages and the underlying logic
  • Excellent critical thinking and strategic analysis for future-thinking and planning
  • Able to react and respond quickly in a fast paced environment where requirements may change
  • Obsessive attention to detail that makes your product stand out to its users
