Senior Software Engineer - JavaScript Platform

We are as much concerned about thought leadership, community involvement and the ever changing JavaScript landscape as we are with producing high-quality scalable code.

On the JavaScript Platform team you’ll have tons of opportunities to flex your strengths as well as learn new things. We work with all five primary ecommerce sites, mobile web and apps, international sites, internal tools, build process, and infrastructure. We contribute to (and create) bleeding edge open source projects and continuously push the envelope to explore the future of ecommerce and development systems.


What the Wayfair JavaScript team does:

  • Writes clean, high-performance, JavaScript code with a focus on code reusability.
  • Contributes to the continued development of our open source virtual-DOM powered UI framework, Tungsten.js.
  • Leads architecture discussions for building new product and JS framework features
  • Writes JavaScript unit tests (Jasmine)
  • Works closely with other Client-Side Technology teams including CSS/HTML and Mobile to create next generation site features
  • Performs JS code and architecture reviews for other engineering teams


About you:

  • 4+ years of JavaScript, JS Framework, or web technologies
  • Familiarity with AMD or other JavaScript module patterns
  • Familiarity with modern client-side frameworks such as Backbone.js,  Angular, Ember, Polymer or React.js
  • Excited about keeping up to date with the latest JavaScript libraries and other client-side technologies
  • PHP or other server-side language exposure


Nice to haves:

  • An active GitHub account
  • Attend JavaScript meet-ups
  • Mobile site development experience
  • Experience writing HTML/CSS
