Who we are: Operations Product Innovation is an internal consulting team that seeks to make things run more efficiently by using technology.  We analyze the operations of our business (Customer Service, Outbound Sales, Product Catalog Management, Fulfillment, and Warehousing) and find opportunities to improve customer experience and reduce costs.  Then we work with our engineering to team to build systems to realize those opportunities. 

 

The newly formed Product Media team within OPI is engaged in a number of exciting initiatives to support Wayfair’s growth in production of photo studio assets, videos, and other rich media.  The Product Media Associate PM role will be responsible for project management and support for a range of dynamic, cross-functional initiatives aimed at both 1) building and adopting new tools/processes to manage rich media asset workflows and consumption; and 2) driving efficiency/reducing cost for existing rich media tools and processes.

In this role you will:

  • Turn high-level business requirements into detailed specs for software development
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and software/systems engineers to manage all phases of project execution, from stakeholder research through implementation and evaluation
  • Work cross-functionally with a wide variety of stakeholders across all areas of the business – including marketing, advertising, merchandising, creative design, photo studios, directors & VPs – to identify business needs for project development, proactively communicate project updates, and facilitate adoption of new features
  • Prioritize competing interests and focus project plans on the highest impact activities
  • Provide project management support for a roadmap of projects to improve digital asset management tools & processes
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency in digital asset-related workflows and improve tool usability
  • Perform quality assurance analysis and user acceptance testing on new software tools

 

Projects may include:

  • Organization and management of a dynamic, broad project queue dedicated to improving digital asset management tools & processes across the organization
  • Creation of efficient ownership workflows for media asset management and usage
  • UX research and design
  • Strategy and development of processes/tools that drive automation of manual tasks
  • Proactive outreach to various internal stakeholders, in order to move a project forward or escalate an issue
  • Creation of software specs and test plans
  • Quality assurance analysis
  • Analysis of data to understand impact and/or prioritize work
  • Broad communication about project progress and KPIs

 

Ideally, you are:

  • A self-starter who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment and able to pivot quickly as business needs evolve
  • Able to work independently, and motivated to move beyond existing practices
  • Tenacious – push past ambiguity and status quo to drive innovative, sustainable solutions forward
  • Very organized, and able to prioritize information/tasks among a wide range of inputs/data
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally across wide variety of teams, backgrounds/interests, and levels/seniority; readily able to tailor communication to your audience
  • Comfortable diving into the details of a project to understand the root cause of an issue and how to fix, but use big picture thinking and holistic vision to guide action and prioritization

 

Ideally, you have:

  • A demonstrated record of strong project management or QA experience (preferably e-commerce), or a desire to learn and develop those skills
  • Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to think creatively with a user-focused mindset
  • Experience with Excel/SQL
  • A technical and/or analytical background, or are able to “speak the language”
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology or business discipline
