Project Manager - Product Availability Systems

Wayfair’s Process Innovation team is looking for a sharp, driven Project Management Specialist to help drive key strategic initiatives through technology. This role involves managing the end-to-end project management life-cycle for technically complex strategies, from ideation and requirements gathering to prioritization, implementation, and post-launch support. Working with developers and stakeholders across the organization, this Senior Specialist would also help craft the long-term vision for platform technology products and help scale important customer-facing programs driven by these products.

Sample projects include:

  • Overseeing the design, testing, and implementation of inventory-driven customer guarantee eligibility algorithms
  • Analyzing trends in large data sets to propose derivative feature development that better leverages supplier-provided data
  • Working with business leaders to provide better visibility into complex underlying calculations that drive key customer-facing product availability functions

The ideal candidate operates with independence, enjoys digging into data to diagnose system issues, can understand both business problems and their proposed technical solutions, and thrives in a fast-paced, enthusiastic, and opinionated environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Translate high-level business problems into more detailed functional specifications of required technology solutions
  • Develop and maintain technology platform road map and disseminate regular updates to key stakeholders
  • Counsel business leaders in operations and other departments on workflow optimization and process definition
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert on all facets of technology platform
  • When presented with a symptom of a system issue, use SQL, data analytics, and other research tools to find patterns and help identify the root cause
  • Work with engineers to effectively triage and solve problems on the fly
  • Work with engineers to QA and roll out new tools or enhancements, ensuring issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved
  • Identify any opportunities to improve efficiency or usability of our existing software tools

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A demonstrated understanding of application databases and system design with applied experience
  • 3+ years' experience working in project or product management roles, ideally involving development of technology products, with direct project oversight
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Creative thinking and constant desire to make processes better
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attention to detail
  • An interest in working hard and being challenged in a fast-paced environment, while having fun doing it
