Wayfair is looking for a Senior Operations Research Analyst to join the team! This individual will have the opportunity to take on global optimization projects that will have immediate impact on our operational network. We are looking for an individual who can embrace Wayfair’s innovative brand and think through the creative strategies to develop and execute these complex algorithms.

The successful candidate will work with a small team to tackle large scale and complex operational challenges here at Wayfair: this includes working with our innovative asset based transportation network, network design and optimization, and inventory optimization. We are looking for an individual capable of thinking outside of the box about operational challenges, who wants to try new approaches and challenge traditional models – all while focusing on bringing a best-in-class experience to our global customers.

Furthermore, we anticipate this individual will be able to think strategically and creatively to identify new areas for improvement for Wayfair’s future operations.


We seek an individual with the following:

  • Ph.D. or MS in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 4 years professional experience in Operations Research or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge in the following: theories of optimization (especially transportation network optimization) including linear programming, mixed-integer programming and network modeling.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and business-oriented colleagues, as well as being able to speak at a level appropriate for the audience.
  • Energized and comfortable working in an environment where business initiatives are more loosely defined.
  • The ability to implement models and tools through the use of high-level modeling languages (e.g. AMPL, R, Matlab, etc).
  • Experience prototyping and developing software in traditional programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, SQL, etc).
  • A positive, passionate, and people-oriented.
