Wayfair Pricing & Profitability Algorithms is seeking an energetic, curious and action-oriented undergrad with interest in a data science career to join the team for the summer of 2017.
Algorithms is a group of data scientists within the Pricing & Profitability team responsible for dynamically adjusting the prices and amount of exposure on millions of products worldwide with a high degree of executive-level visibility. We work daily with terabytes of data on historical online browsing patterns, customer behavior, orders, real-time competitor information and databases on the internet’s largest e-commerce selection of more than 7 million home goods. The team controls all stages in the life-cycle of a project from ideation, to execution, to analysis and monitoring. At its core, Pricing & Profitability leverages on data and predictive analytics solutions to hit company financial goals and optimize our value offering to customers.
In this role, the Data Scientist Intern will gain broad exposure to the inner workings of a billion-dollar business. They will learn how to interact with large databases of financial, product, and consumer behavior to build models and reports that improve Wayfair’s business execution. They will also brainstorm ideas to tackle open questions, mine data for understanding, and iterate on solutions to strategically steer customer behavior and quantify impact. This role provides a rare opportunity to gain exposure to technology, data, and business in a high growth tech company. The Pricing & Profitability Team has a big appetite for bold ideas and a strong bias for action.
