Senior Manager, Strategic Warehouse Initiatives

In this role, the candidate will drive the implementation and management of one of Wayfair’s key operational initiatives by identifying operational improvements in our network of warehouses across the US and Canada and implementing best practices and quality control standards. This person will be responsible for the management of specialized teams throughout the country as well as working cross-functionally with each warehouse Director.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the hiring, development and management of a team of supervisors
  • Provide direct guidance of the development, implementation and execution on KPI/metrics
  • Responsible for both oversight of day to day value-add services program as well as the development of a strategic program of warehouse quality auditors focused on driving internal warehouse performance improvements
  • Partner across organization to highlight opportunities for process improvements and leverage technology solutions to create efficiencies and exceptional customer experience
  • Facilitate regular feedback loop with warehouse management partners to collaboratively drive performance improvements
  • Delve into nitty gritty of product handling, quality standards and packaging best practices within our fulfillment network
  • Responsible for driving UPH increases within our value-add services program by improving product flow, developing associate accountability programs, and identifying process inefficiencies
  • Spearhead pilot programs in an effort to continuously improve
  • Coordinate with Planning team to manage day to day staffing levels for department and inventory levels of packaging materials
  • Pivot as needed to address unanticipated challenges and complexity in the business model
  • Report performance trends and improvements to senior management
  • Hire, train and launch specialized team as required in new facilities
  • Responsible for SOP guides and ongoing training programs
  • Travel required, approximately 30%

 

Qualifications:

  • Background in large scale fulfillment operations
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing implementation projects from start to finish
  • Evidence of “scrappy startup execution” and how to ‘get it done’ attitude no matter what, when time is tight and stakes are high.
  • Process-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Very comfortable with implementing new technology
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically within a dynamic, fast-paced organization
  • Extremely collaborative and effective in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to manage through ambiguity and stress to establish focus and deliver against business goals
  • 5-10+ years management experience, including proven success in building and scaling teams
