Chief Data Privacy Officer, Stockholm

And we need the best and brightest to help us get it done. Our fast-growing start-up was founded in 2010 and currently has approximately 350 employees across its offices in Berlin, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Stockholm (HQ).

iZettle is looking for a driven and experienced Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) to develop the function within its fast growing international organisation. The role offers a great opportunity to develop and build a new data privacy function and framework that will be implemented throughout the iZettle group. 


The role

As CDPO you will have the overall responsibility for overviewing data privacy matters throughout all countries within the iZettle group and will report to the General Counsel. As CDPO, you will work closely with the IT, Security, Compliance and Legal team as well as other group functions. You will be based in Stockholm but the role demands some travel to other countries.


Main areas of responsibility

As CDPO you will be responsible for, amongst others, the following activities:

-Lead the implementation of the new European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

-Establish and maintain a group wide structure for coordinating data privacy matters.

-Support the business in privacy impact assessments e.g. in product development.

-Continuously develop our internal governance documents to support the implementation of external data privacy rules within the group.

-Contribute to the group’s compliance program by setting up and performing internal controls to monitor the business’ management of privacy related risks.

-Participate in group wide risk assessments and review compliance with internal governance documents and external data privacy rules (both internally and at third party data processors).

-Support and work closely with the wider business to ensure that the group’s information management considers and takes into account all relevant data privacy issues.

-Continuously advise the business in privacy matters, provide awareness training as well as regulatory updates.

-Serve as the main contact towards the Swedish Data Protection Board and equivalent authorities in other countries.


Skills and experience

You have a law degree or equivalent and have at least 5-7 years of experience from a similar position. As a person you have a strong drive, high integrity, excellent communication skills and are fluent in Swedish and English. Knowledge of additional languages is qualifying. You are able to adopt a pragmatic approach and use common sense to align the legal requirements with the needs of the business.
