Title of Job: Software Engineer – Identity Lifecycle Management (Senior/Staff/Principal)

Position Description:

Okta provides comprehensive user management integration to and between 3rd party services such as Google, Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, AD, Workday and Box. The Lifecycle Management team is responsible for designing and building an elegant and abstract platform for managing the various states that users and applications can materialize within Okta. Okta integration in turn rely on this platform to surface application specific states and capabilities depending on what specific third party applications support. We are looking for smart, innovative and passionate engineers to join the team and help craft the future of Identity Management in the era of cloud.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, review and troubleshoot software
  • Analyze/Refine requirements with Product Management
  • Work with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable cloud integration infrastructure components
  • Interface with QA, Technical Support, Documentation and UX teams

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • 5+ years experience with advanced Java or other strongly typed language
  • Solid grasp of software engineering principles and practices
  • Understanding and appreciation for test driven development
  • Experience with a few of: Spring, Redis, REST, Maven, EC2, Memcached, MySQL, Elasticsearch and Tomcat desirable
  • Experience with Active Directory, LDAP or other directory services a plus
  • Experience developing integration infrastructure or cloud service brokers highly desirable
  • Experience working on low latency, concurrent and mission critical environments desirable
  • Experience with UI, JavaScript and related technologies such as Backbone.js a plus
  • Knowledge of network security, encryption, authentication and authorization a plus


Education and Training:

  • BS. Computer Science or related field (MS/PhD a plus)
