Pivotal is seeking a salesperson with experience selling Big Data, Analytics, Business Intelligence and Hadoop solutions into top level CXOs, CIOs and CTOs.  The Big Data Sales Specialist role is responsible for working closely with the Pivotal Sales Teams on strategic data related opportunities.  


  • Ability to articulate business value and technical competencies from various use-case examples.
  • Ability to work with Pivotal Account Executives and their corresponding Regional Directors to ensure alignment and focus.
  • Able to clearly explain complex technical concepts in terms of business value to customers.  
  • Help to build and substantiate return on investment models.
  • Quickly understand customer challenges and collaboratively develop conceptual solution architecture.  
  • Partner on the execution of an effective POC and Proof of Value efforts.


  • Broad knowledge of the Big Data market, including the business and technical characteristics of Pivotal's competitors focused on Hadoop and MPP.
  • Considered a Subject Matter Expert in data and analytics.
  • Strong communication skills.  
  • Previous experience in the Data and Analytics product market.
  • Experience developing and executing sales strategies resulting in significant revenue growth.
  • Successful history in a direct (preferred) or indirect software sales role, minimum of 5-7 years of experience.
