About the team

Stripe’s Global Sales Team is at the forefront of driving revenue and growth. As trusted business partners, our goal is to help users understand Stripe products and integrate them with ease so they can concentrate on what’s most important to them: their business. We’re known for our product expertise, rigorous thinking, and user-first approach to problem solving. Within Stripe, Sales proudly serves as a critical source of user feedback and market intelligence, with direct influence on Stripe’s product roadmap and growth strategy.

What you’ll do

As an Account Executive, SMB/ Startup, you will drive Stripe’s future growth engine by building relationships with prospective clients and turning them into happy Stripe users. You'll manage to generate both outbound and inbound leads (as the first point of contact for many new and growing businesses interested in Stripe) and handle the full sales cycle through onboarding new users. You're an energetic and organized self-starter; you understand the sales process, can build relationships with the right decision-makers, and can succinctly define and communicate the specific benefits of Stripe appropriate for each user. You will be a key driver of revenue growth for the company, and on the front lines for evangelizing our product to prospective and existing users.

  • Get emerging startups on Stripe
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline
  • Own the full sales cycle from lead to close for startups and small/medium businesses
  • You need to generate your own leads through cold calling, blitzing, research, networking,
    and driving your territory.
  • Make every potential Stripe user happy with every interaction, regardless of deal size
  • Identify and understand users’ pain points to propose Stripe solutions
  • Make sure that internal teams are set up for users’ success by coordinating with other
    Stripe teams

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.


Minimum requirements

  • Experience in a sales-focused customer/client-facing role, with a track record of top performance
  • Experience in sales to Startup users or engagement in Startup community
  • Ability to understand the Stripe API and build great relationships with highly technical
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities including comfort with basic modeling
  • Strong interest in technology and products
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills\
  • Ability to operate in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in Japanese and English

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience at a growth stage Internet/Software company
  • Prior experience selling a highly technical product/service
