Account Strategist

BuzzFeed is looking for a smart, detail-oriented, customer-service focused individual to join our growing Strategic Solutions team (a.k.a., our ‘big pitch team’). This team sits within the larger Client Services team and is responsible for leading the development and renewal of large-scale strategic partnerships with BuzzFeed’s key clients and accounts. This role will partner closely with Client Services Management, Brand Strategy and all parts of the business organization to design innovative, highly effective solutions that are deeply rooted in storytelling and insights in order to solve for client goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads in the creation of strategic proposals, upfronts and joint business partnerships that solve for and map to advertiser goals

  • Sets up and leads strategy meetings

  • Interacts and acts as liaison to business teams to communicate advertiser needs and gain approvals for ideas, including research, ad operations, creative, and ad development

  • Partners with Brand Strategy (Sales) and often lead client meetings and work sessions

  • Remain highly involved in campaigns after sell-through and work closely with the Client Services Managers to ensure programs are on strategy, to provide suggestions on optimization and program upsells, continuous client education, etc.

  • Proactively identify and develop large-scale renewal strategies to continue growing business partnerships

  • Work hand in hand with research department to data/insights are the root of all strategies put forth in order to best tell a brand’s audience and personal story

  • Provide thought leadership both externally and internally about both BuzzFeed and the larger social/digital landscape

Requirements:

  • 6+ Years minimum experience working at a media agency and/or publisher managing a brand’s digital advertising strategy and buying activities

    • 2+ years experience in digital marketing

  • Work ethic and personality that inspires the best approach to internal and external customer service, demonstrates detailed thinking, exemplifies accountability and follow through, prioritizes in an environment of multiple tasks and challenges, encourages collaboration with internal teams, and ensures insightful problem solving

  • Demonstrates organizational, planning, and execution skills. Follows established processes and understands the importance of them

  • Seeks accuracy with a strong attention to detail

  • Must be self-motivated, driven and able to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Communicates clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and non-verbal methods

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort with client interfacing role

  • Creative and strategic in nature with the ability to think outside the box and articulate 'big ideas'

  • Possesses strong quantitative and analytical skills as well as creative problem-solving abilities

  • Adapts to different personalities and comfortable in a dynamic environment

  • Passionate about social media and about learning BuzzFeed products, brings energy to everything they do and will not be afraid to roll up his/her sleeves to tackle projects both big and small.
