Accounts Payable Specialist

Twilio is looking for a full time Accounts Payable Specialist to join its global accounting and finance team. Working directly with the Accounting Manager, the AP Specialist will have full ownership of the accounts payable cycle and related functions. The desired candidate must be highly analytical and inquisitive with strong attention to detail.

Further, candidate must love getting 'hands on' yet also see the big picture. Lastly, the ideal candidate is a process-oriented individual who is also flexible enough to thrive in a startup setting.  

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently process a high volume of vendor bills and expense reports for both HQ and international subsidiary.
  • Manage accounts payable related email inboxes.
  • Work to resolve vendor bill and payment inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Reconcile corporate credit cards, as well as organize supporting receipts and approval.
  • Own the “Procure to Pay” accounting cycle by providing support to the various functional groups at Twilio in submitting and approving purchase orders.
  • Coordinate weekly check runs, wire payments, and ACH payments.
  • Record payable related cash transactions in accounting system accurately and efficiently.
  • Support the overall accounting team during the month end close process through journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal control policies and procedures.
  • Increase efficiencies through process improvements and further assist with change management.
  • Audit and tax support Generate management reports and analysis, as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Accounts Payable experience.
  • Public company experience a plus.
  • Previous start-up experience required.
  • Passion for end to end procurement process and system improvements.
  • Strong attention to details and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (US and international preferred).
  • Tech savvy – Excel guru a plus.
  • Strong experience with the following software/tools:
    • Google Business Apps
    • com/Dropbox
    • NetSuite
  • Familiarity with the following software/tools:
    • DocuSign
    • Expensify/Concur
  • Strong understanding of financial and operational controls
