Accounts Receivable Manager, North America

The Role:

The Accounts Receivable Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Accounts Receivable sub-ledger ledger, all sales tax matters and development of one team member. This role will process and monitor incoming payments and outgoing invoices of customers in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The Accounts Receivable Manager will also partner with both Local and Global Finance teams in ensuring a timely and accurate month close and the preparation of useful financial reports. The role will contribute towards building and developing a robust finance function to support continued growth of the North America business.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to: Head of Finance, North America

Role Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for managing and developing one direct report
  • Assessing, identifying and implementing efficiencies in processes and improve ways of working to instill discipline and tight control over end-to-end AR function.
  • Maintain health of AR balances through persistent collection of outstanding invoices within retailer payment terms, timely resolution of contested balances and resolution of discrepancies between retailer and our trial balances
  • Own and nurture retailer relationships encompassing invoicing, collections, disputes and remittances
  • Track, monitor, process payments and reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all receipts from customers are accounted for and properly posted
  • Process customer chargebacks including returns and other allowances, ensuring high accuracy of subledger transactions
  • Work cross functionally with sales and supply chain teams on matters of RTV’s, POD’s and investigations
  • Raise and resolve customer chargebacks with supply chain team and dispute any chargebacks without support and commercial team alignment
  • Issue customer re-bills for CAPEX and other negotiated contributions
  • Maintain customer support files, returns authorization trackers and related customer documentations thoroughly and accurately
  • Deliver bi-weekly customer aging with variance analysis and commentary
  • Input into short term cash flow forecasts for global cash funding position reports
  • Work with IT team to raise and resolve any EDI or invoicing issues
  • Ownership of Sales Tax relationship with 3rd party vendor to ensure nexus compliance, remittances of timely payments, reconciliation of returns filed to taxes collected
  • Liaise w/ various sales tax entities to address sales tax matters
  • Ownership of business licenses and annual reports filings with 3rd party vendor
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining internal schedules to track timelines and status of all filings


Key Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • AR experience of 7+ years required, CPG experience a plus!
  • Experience with EDI
  • Knowledge of sales taxation issues and working w/ tax entities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface comfortably at all levels both internally and externally
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, sum-if, index-match, etc) and financial systems savviness
  • Record of process improvements
  • NetSuite experience is preferable
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced start-up environment
  • Flexible & adaptable to changing priorities
  • Must be detailed-oriented and organize
