Tax Analysts has an exciting opportunity for a new business analyst role on the Product Strategy Team. The business analyst will join us at an important juncture as we re-envision our product development process to adopt a more user-focused approach to taking a product from concept to market.



  • Participate in product discovery and support user research initiatives -- including user journey definitions and mapping diagrams -- to gather, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of both internal and external stakeholders and convert them into actionable requirements that are focused on improved usability, user experience, and user adoption and engagement.
  • Keep track of feedback from users, product owners, and key stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate requirements and project expectations to stakeholders and team members.
  • Convert high-level requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria that are clear to the Engineering team.
  • Facilitate dialogue about customer value to help make the product owner’s decisions more efficient.
  • Work with an Agile team to participate in Sprint Refinement to help product owner and engineers clarify user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Groom the product/sprint backlog based on the prioritization communicated by the product owner.
  • Gather and analyze user data to help support customer-focused product decisions.
  • Work with the Agile team to plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools to ensure timely delivery.
  • Participate in project retrospectives to measure project performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project and training documentation that reflects the scope and complexities of the project.
  • Analyze for gaps in business processes and recommend improvements that could enhance the company’s value to customers.
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Product Strategy Team on roadmap planning and prioritization.
  • Help influence stakeholders to support projects.
  • Evaluate and help prioritize incoming product or feature requests.
  • Coordinate with product owners in getting their sign off on user stories before development begins as well as after development is complete.


  • Excellent technical and nontechnical writing, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to resolve problems that require tact and discretion
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cross-departmental projects simultaneously
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Highly motivated and able to follow tasks through to final delivery
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience working with Agile or Scrum framework
  • Understanding of marketing and customer service principles
  • Understanding of basic project management principles
  • Familiarity with Tax Notes products


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent in additional experience.
  • 4+ years of related work experience including business analysis and/or project management
  • Business Analyst certification preferred
  • Knowledge of content authoring and publishing tools and content management systems
