Agile Specialist (Entry Level)

The Team Practices Group is a talented group of Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters who support team health at the Wikimedia Foundation by engaging with teams in our Product department and beyond. We also are a tight-knit group who work closely to continually improve our own internal processes, and learn and grow as professionals. We are seeking an Agile Specialist who embodies the spirit of the agile manifesto and principles to join our group and further our core work of helping teams to continually improve their sustainability, predictability, and ability to collaborate.

We’d like you to do this:

  • Act in a combination of:
    • Scrum Master (or similar) role with 1-2 cross-functional teams, and/or
    • Consulting with teams on context appropriate processes and practices that support team health
  • Practice servant leadership with teams and in the organization
  • Participate in the agile community
  • Promote a culture of excellence in delivering outstanding software
  • Identify opportunities to continuously optimize and improve
  • Work closely with colleagues on the Team Practices Group on our own team goals and initiatives

We’d like you to have these skills:

  • 1+ years of experience implementing agile and lean practices with teams, and/or comparable team leadership roles
  • Understanding of and experience applying agile philosophies, lean development principles, and common frameworks such as Scrum and/or Kanban
  • History of success facilitating the delivery of high-quality software
  • Demonstrated understanding of communication, group dynamics, and coaching
  • BS/BA degree in related fields or equivalent professional experience

And it would be even more awesome if you have this:

  • Professional certifications in Agile frameworks (PMI-ACP, CSM, KCP, etc)
  • Experience in open knowledge and/or community-driven projects
  • Experience writing software
  • Experience working with distributed teams
  • Experience working on large, complex web services projects with a global audience
  • Contributor to Wikipedia (or sister project)
