Assistant Buyer - Exclusive Brands with fluent German

The Role:

Wayfair’s Exclusive Brands team drives the strategic development of all European private label brands. We are looking to hire an Assistant Buyer to help support this initiative. The method for developing our private label brands will combine Wayfair’s highly practical & deeply analytic DNA with inspirational photography and best in class merchandising to further differentiate the Wayfair shopping experience from our competitors.

In this role the Assistant Buyer will support the Exclusive Brands buying team. They will be responsible for data collection, and operational aspects of Exclusive Brands. Daily projects include collecting information on existing Wayfair best sellers, creating/styling creative briefs for photography execution, cataloging new products by style & price point, and a high level of cross functional interaction to drive projects forward. This role provides significant exposure to one of Wayfair’s strategic initiatives and various other job functions. Top performers will have a chance to progress their career further into our buying or other areas of the organization.

The most successful Assistant Buyers are those who are eager to learn, tenacious, outgoing, have an eye for style and have an equal passion for both business and process. The Assistant Buyer for Exclusive Brands must be an expert multi-tasker, have an acute focus on detail, and manage their workload in a highly organized way.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Buyers with the following: curation of house brands, business analysis, and site QA
  • Assist Buyers with development/styling of new imagery
  • Work cross functionally to assist the Category management teams develop strategic brands & merchandise key supplier skus to the highest standard
  • Assist buyers in collaboration with Boston & Berlin creative teams to develop clear, meaningful brand propositions for both UK & German markets
  • Develop and maintain industry knowledge; stay on top of category and market trends

What we are looking for:

  • Fluent in speaking German; C1 or C2 level
  • Articulate, persuasive communicator
  • Goal oriented, entrepreneurial self-starter, eagerness to learn and progressively take on more responsibility
  • Exceptional attention to detail & highly organized
  • Savvy, quick thinking and comfortable in a dynamic, fast paced, constantly evolving environment
  • Proven ability to thrive as part of a team or individually
  • Able to juggle many projects at many stages of development at one time and see through to completion
  • Excel proficiency & technical aptitude
