The Sourcery is hiring an

Associate Software Engineer

San Francisco, United States

About us:

Here at Talix we’re harnessing the power of data to tackle one of the healthcare industry’s biggest challenges to drive real outcomes for healthcare organizations across the country. In this untapped field, our goal is to help our customers, healthcare providers and insurance agencies, turn mountains of healthcare data into actionable insights through natural language processing, big data analytics, and the most sophisticated taxonomy in the industry.

As a mission-driven company, we’re committed to driving improved outcomes and reduced costs for the people of the world. We’re a growing group of passionate individuals, ready to take on real healthcare problems and bring disruption to the risk adjustment industry. We’re here to make a difference. Do you share our passion?

The role:

Are you passionate about solving customer issues, taking problem descriptions that are often vague and described in non-technical terms, and then driving solutions from beginning to end?

The Associate Software Engineer plays a critical role and requires daily interactions with clients, development teams, Production Operations, project managers, QA, and pretty much anybody else with a stake in a particular issue. You will use your skills to help debug and solve issues wherever they may be – from broken HTML/CSS to bad or missing data to backend batch processing systems to production performance issues.

This role is the perfect opportunity for a hungry junior to mid level engineer to gain full stack experience while working with a diverse set of teams and projects. By uncovering patterns in the problems you solve, you will suggest architectural changes to eliminate or reduce overall issue reoccurrence.

You will:

  • Handle escalated support issues reported by customers and/or internal teams
  • Debug and deploy emergency software patches, temporary database updates, configuration changes, anything necessary to address critical problems
  • Suggest (and possibly work on) architectural changes to reduce support issues
  • Contribute to architecture, tools, standards and best practices for the engineering organization.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 2+ years of web application development experience using Java, Tomcat, Apache
  • 1+ year Linux scripting experience
  • SQL and RDBMS knowledge (preferably with Oracle)
  • Excellent project management skills: self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly kinetic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to facilitate your own meetings as necessary, comfortable working with all levels of the organization. Display high level of professionalism when dealing with external customers

Bonus points for:

  • JavaScript framework experience, preferred AngularJS
  • Knowledgeable with Gulp, Node, D3

What we can offer:

  • At Talix, we’ll take care of you. We offer medical, dental and vision insurance, competitive salaries, stock options, and generous PTO.
  • We work hard, but we also recognize the importance of having fun at work. Ping pong, mini-golf tournaments, yoga classes, BBQs and Happy Hours are just a few of the fun activities here at Talix.
  • Love dogs? We do too. At Talix, we’re a dog-friendly office.
  • If you ever get hungry, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with a fully stocked kitchen.
  • We like to give back to the community and support important causes. Every year, we participate as a team in Walk MS, AIDS Walk and other events.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
