As a Software Engineering Intern in Bioinformatics, you will gain exposure to the basics of building software applications in a dynamic, continuous-deployment environment, using the latest cloud-based toolkits while helping to deliver usable software to immediately impact our science and business teams. You will gain a peak into how genomic products are built, while you support product and process development efforts. And, as an added bonus you’ll get to work in a fast-paced, fun and exciting start-up environment.

As a Software Engineering Intern in Bioinformatics you will:

  • Work on an project such as: design and architecture of REST services for delivering genomic and phenotypic content, developing visual interfaces for exploration or analysis of sequence data, implementation of semantic search.
  • Collaborate with science and bioinformatics to learn about and apply the basics of building software as part of a team, continuous integration/deployment, data engineering, and semantic web/biomedical ontologies.


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
  • Currently enrolled in a full time degree program and returning to the program after completion of the internship
  • Completed projects or classes focused on Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux or Windows environment, and APIs
  • Implementation skills (C++, C, Java, Python)

Duration: 8-10 week summer internship with flexible scheduling, up to 40hrs/wk.
