Lantern is hiring a

Business Development Associate

San Francisco, United States

About Lantern:

Since Lantern’s founding in 2012, our team of researchers, technologists, and clinicians have been at the cutting edge of translating clinical research and expertise into simple, effective online programs based on cognitive behavioral therapy.

We envision a world in which people think differently about their mental health–where they feel empowered to take a simple step toward self-improvement. We believe that mental health is for everyone, and that people deserve support that is accessible, affordable, and effective.

As part of a recent investment round, we are deepening our focus on the employer marketplace.  We have recently signed a global tech company recognized as a leader in providing value-added benefits to its employees.  We want to rapidly build upon this success by contracting with other like-minded employers.

We are looking to hire Business Development Associates to join our sales team to accelerate our go-to-market strategy through a focus on Large Employers.

Job Description:

Lantern is looking for sharp, collaborative, and motivated Business Development Associates with a passion for digital mental health and wellness.  You will help us segment the marketplace, identify potential buyers and value propositions, and develop a systematic approach for contacting target customers to raise awareness, generate leads, and initiate sales opportunities.

Who we're looking for:

You somehow find a way to be on top of everything - from the biggest project to the smallest detail, you’re on it.  Even more impressively, you’re able to stay that organized while also being flexible and willing to dive into new projects as they arise. You expertly balance being on top of your game and adapting to changes, and you wouldn’t want it any other way.

At the heart of it, you’re a self motivated and energetic go getter - always looking to bring people and new ideas together in order to solve a need that was either known or unknown by these new contacts.  You’re not shy about making yourself heard, and you know the value of a range of opinions coming together into a final solution.  You gain energy from reaching out to new people and presenting new concepts in an industry that is not always quick to change. To enable quick introductions you’re a pro-communicator, able to take complex information and succinctly articulate it in a clear way that meets the needs of each member of your audience.

Maybe you’ve had experience with business development through consulting, health care provider partnerships, or other benefits related organizations.  Perhaps you’re looking for the next challenge that will utilize your skills for a greater cause in a nimble, fast-paced, and growing mission focused company. Most importantly, you love the sound of big goals and challenges and want to be  part of a team where Monday’s are welcomed and not feared. If this sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.

Your role at Lantern:

You will be challenged with large goals and big problems.  Success will be measured by your ability to meet and exceed these goals and overcome the challenges laid before us.  You will not be in this alone and will be expected to work with your colleagues in a collaborative manner.  We bring a team approach and all thoughts, ideas,  and new approaches are welcome.  You will need to manage details of a pipelines while also chasing down prospects, clients, contracting paperwork, and supporting each one of your team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Business Development leadership and team
  • Meet with Fortune 1000 companies both in person and over the phone
  • Identify new prospects and close business
  • Own pipeline management, meeting schedules, and internal communication
  • Bring new ideas to the team

Qualifications and experience:

  • BA/BS degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity and comfort working in an early stage company
  • Experience finding new prospects and working with large organizations
  • Readily adaptable to changing market and organizational requirements
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sales skills
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Be eligible to work in the US
  • Be willing to work out of our San Francisco office
