We’re looking for a Director, Business Development to lead strategic deals and partnerships in support of the company’s key objectives. Reporting into the Head of Business Development, you will help chart the continued growth for Coinbase: innovative ways to grow our customer base, enable new services, increase retention and differentiate Coinbase from competitors. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, results-oriented partnerships professional, who is passionate about cryptocurrency and wants to build successful relationships. 


What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with the product  teams to identify high potential  partnership opportunities and the strategy to pursue them.
  • Gather input and coordinate with internal stakeholders to help set business  goals and to ensure alignment on deal points.
  • Own all elements of the partnership life cycle:  scoping of opportunities, framing of value, negotiation of term sheets and contracts, implementation and optimization.
  • Inform product roadmap based on partnership opportunities.
  • Maintain healthy and productive relationships with partners, resolving business, policy and technical issues.

What we look for in you: 

  • 8-10 years relevant experience of business development in consumer facing tech or financial services.
  • Experience leading commercial business development deals and partnerships. 
  • Creativity, resourcefulness and persistence to drive deals forward in fast-moving, complex  environment.
  • Great commercial and strategic instincts - the ability to exercise good judgment in assessing opportunities, deal framing and negotiation of terms.
  • The ability to set priorities in ambiguous situations.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and a passion for technology.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity. 

Nice to haves:

  • Demonstrated interest for digital assets.
  • MBA and/or experience in management consulting with top firm.
