About Our Client.
They an Agrocentric Company which provides full solutions to Smallholder and Commercial farmers. Their objective is formalising and commercialising sustainable local agriculture. Solutions include: custom fertiliser and other agro-inputs material, agronomy services, route to market (off-take) for coffee, grains and pulses. They also offer value addition for grain such as flour milling and animal feed products.

The company is investing in leadership to support its recent emphasis on growth, product development, and expansion.

About the role....
The CFO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for a well-functioning finance and accounting system. The CFO supervises all finance areas such as accounting, finance, treasury, planning & analysis or inventory management and has to ensure that processes and systems are in place to support all activities. The CFO ensures a timely reporting and compliance with all laws and company regulations. In addition, the CFO advises the Executive Committee and other functions on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the finance unit. Areas of work include accounting (payments, inventory), tax (audit, filing), treasury (cash flow, hedging), reporting (budget, forecasting), and business analysis (pricing, capital optimisation).
  • Developing systems and guidelines for compliance, financial security, control, and risk management
  • Supervising, evaluating, and developing staff
  • Evaluating the financial and business impact of investment opportunities
  • Ensuring exchange and alignment with shareholding companies
  • Participating in strategy development and key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  • Reporting financial results to the board of directors

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • University Degree (Masters) in Business and/or Finance (preferably MBA in Finance and Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant)
  • Several years of progressively responsible management experience in finance and finance-related areas
  • Up to date IFRS accounting knowledge
  • Skills in: communication, presentation, management, strategy, data analysis, and operational order and detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision is preferable
