The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Drug Discovery Chemistry department. As a key member of our Technician team, you will contribute to our technology-enabled portfolio of disease programmes by supporting core laboratory activities within a dynamic team of Drug Discovery scientists.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the smooth operation of the Chemistry laboratory through maintaining laboratory stocks and reagents, receiving / sending deliveries, updating inventories and managing laboratory waste
  • Support the integrity of our compound collection through purity analysis, QC and Certificate of Analysis generation
  • Generate decision-making data through independent assay determination of for example, photostability, chemical stability and core physicochemical properties of candidate drug molecules
  • Oversee maintenance of general laboratory equipment including repairs, portable appliance testing, contracts and engineer call-outs
  • Develop formulations of key compounds for further experimental study
  • Support Registration of internal and externally sourced Chemical Compounds into our internal Database
  • Implement, and work with, robust data workflows to maintain the integrity of our sample tracking and scientific data storage
  • Contribute to the safe running of the Chemistry laboratory through generation and following of SOPs, health and safety checks and following safety standards at all times


We are looking for someone with:

  • A BSc in a science related subject is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality standards
  • Positive mindset to problem-solving
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and can work independently as well as part of a group
  • Computer literacy and competent user of Excel / database systems
  • A professional approach to work and colleagues
