Chief of Staff

BuzzFeed, the social news and entertainment company, is seeking a Chief of Staff, reporting directly to the CEO. Working closely with our CEO, the Chief of Staff will help communicate and execute the CEO's special projects and initiatives across many teams including content, creative, technology, and sales.

The ideal candidate must possess strong project management, communication, and leadership skills as well as an excellent ability to communicate at the executive level. She or he must also have the high emotional intelligence and inclusive style needed to influence people across a diverse and growing organization. She or he will also have a record of working operationally without creating unnecessary red tape, and executing tasks that may have a high degree of ambiguity.

Tasks could be as varied as working with the CEO to drive cross-functional internal initiatives or supporting the implementation of external partnerships, to preparation ahead of big presentations or meetings, and assisting with travel and other appointment logistics.

This a demanding role, but one with a lasting impression upon the business. The ideal candidate sees this position as an executive bootcamp of sorts, and is eager to work with (and learn from) executives both in and outside of BuzzFeed. Travel requirements for this role could be as high as 50% of the time, and will primarily be domestic travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand strategic business initiatives and help communicate and implement them across the organization
  • Collaborate with the CEO’s executive assistant to ensure efficient scheduling and preparation for upcoming meetings or events
  • May assist with the organization of executive team meetings and agenda and action item management.
  • Collaborate with PR and Communications teams to prepare for internal and external appearances
  • Work across teams to facilitate various special projects
  • May require some coordination of travel logistics and other administrative duties
  • Anticipate and proactively manage tasks for the CEO

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across multiple levels of an organization
  • Incredibly organized with the ability to track multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form
  • Ability to create beautiful presentations for internal and external use
  • Skilled at interpreting business needs and making decisions based on changing priorities
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information
  • A confident, resourceful self starter who can anticipate the needs of a busy CEO
  • Experience in digital media or technology highly preferred
