Client Strategist, Transportation

Transportation providers, from airports to airlines to rail, are competing heavily to improve the customer experience while also improving the bottom line. Our focus on the convergence of digital and physical spaces, monetization through media, and urban contexts will give a transportation subject matter expert a unique position to effect change. As a Transportation Client Strategist, with subject matter expertise in core or all aspects of transportation (air, rail, urban), you will be responsible for building and managing our transportation practice and associated client relationships and projects for Intersection. Your role will help develop our approach to transportation as it relates to cities and dense urban environments including strategy, research, business development and relationship management across a range of client engagements.  You will help us implement solutions that will change the experience for the rider, whether he or she is in a station, or in the mode of transportation as well as by assisting the government agency utilize information to enhance mobility,

You’ll be an integral part of efforts to develop, implement and manage customer and product solutions, including new program value propositions, customer experiences, operational innovations and technology. You will be responsible for working with key customer contacts at multiple levels. You will identify and align business, product and technology objectives, discover customer pain points, offer recommendations, develop budget strategies and recognize current and future needs.

You will be a member of the Client Strategy team, working with Intersection executives and team members from across the organization to expand our reach as a strategic technology partner for our clients.


  • Develop relationships with C-level executives and client stakeholders to create and implement effective strategies that solve client challenges and maximize the value delivered by Intersection services
  • Collaborate to define project objectives, set key performance metrics, and establish project approach
  • Manage client accounts with outcome of high customer satisfaction, strong relationship retention and account growth
  • Achieve sales and billing targets (to be set annually / adjusted quarterly)
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s business environment and strategy
  • Proficient in account planning and understanding of budget management
  • Manage forecast accuracy on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis
  • Maintain competitive knowledge and focus
  • Perform competitive analysis and identify gaps and opportunities in the marketplace
  • Assemble strategic insights into presentation materials for clients
  • Keep abreast of emerging behaviors, technologies, and companies that are changing our client’s businesses
  • Lead or collaborate on client engagements on a day-to-day basis
  • Be able to lead/execute expert interviews and client presentation
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to design solutions to client challenges
  • Contribute to business development and thought leadership activities
  • Fiscal responsibility with regards to expense management
  • In-depth knowledge of technology products and services


  • 5-10 years external experience with proven consultative sales, preferably experienced in high technology, with evidence of prior success in Sales and Relationship Management
  • Practitioner within Design & Technology
  • Ability to execute the full life cycle of the sales process from prospecting to close
  • Ability to prospect and manage C-level and senior level relationships within medium and large organizations
  • Demonstration of intellect, drive, executive presence, sales acumen
  • Proven experience building excellent client relationships, adding value and providing strategic insight into their business
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral/presentation skills
  • Ability to develop and conduct effective presentations with contract decision makers (C-level)
  • Language requirements as determined by territory needs

Desired Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or Advanced Degree in Computer Science is great, though experience design or current experience in related transportation verticals is ideal
  • Relevant experience in customer relationship marketing, marketing strategy development or program management
  • Analytical experience that includes a blend of customer data and financial measures, business case development or customer and marketing program performance analysis and research
  • A mix of client-side, agency and consulting experience
  • A proven history of anticipating and managing client needs to meet near-term and long-term deliverables
  • Strong presentation and content generation skills with expertise in the development, writing and delivery of presentations
  • Experience with troubleshooting complex technical issues, as well as technical, product and/or infrastructure deployment experience, is a preferred
