Colleague DBA

The Colleague DBA position for CampusWorks is an important part of the service delivery team and requires technical knowledge of operating systems, databases, reporting tools and web applications to support the needs of one or more clients.  A significant part of the work requires the ability to provision, install/configure, operate, and maintain systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.  The Colleague DBA is resourceful, able to problem-solve quickly, and works effectively across teams.
 
Team members successful in this role are: self-driven, able to understand the needs of the client and communicate effective solutions to multiple stakeholders, and experienced at managing multiple technical projects. 


Key Accountabilities

  • Provisions, installs/configures, operates, and maintains systems hardware and software and related infrastructure
  • Manages server and end-user application infrastructure, resolves issues as needed
  • Monitors and installs system and security patches
  • Participates in Colleague/Ellucian module project implementation and/or Unidata to SQL database queries, migrations, and integrations for Colleague
  • Monitors system configuration and log files, takes preventive and/or corrective action
  • Architects, installs, and maintains data backup and disaster recovery technical processes in support of overall business continuity strategy
  • Develops and maintains technical architecture documentation
  • Resolves database issues, installs updates, and leads testing with departments for Colleague/Self-Service
  • Maintains internal webserver hosted websites including but not limited to, IIS01  
  • Maintains internal database servers including but not limited to, SQL01, Datastore01 and Etrieve-db01
  • Facilitates integrations by creating .bat files to run on a schedule. This includes moving/manipulating files for various things such as WinSCP usage on SFTP01.  
  • Correcting bad data in MSSQL, MYSQL and Unidata databases.  
  • Colleague Studio development and customizations for campus environments.  
  • eLumen dataloader backup 
  • Touchnet Administrator (controlling access and creating Upay/Ustore sites as necessary)  
  • Synoptix Server administrator
  • Administer CampusM, the university portal solution. Including adding functionality, updating files and links, adding and auditing roles as well as permissions and users
  • Kourier Admin to keep the Datastore running smoothly  
  • BlackBoard Connect IT Contact
  • BlackBaud IT Contact 
  • Main contact for Ellucian regarding updates, purchases, issues, for cloud-hosted SIS/ERP  
  • Support for Etrieve integration programming needs 

Experience & Education

  • 5-7 Years of Colleague DBA experience at a college/university or with either Datatel or Ellucian
  • Experience at a higher education institution
  • Ability to communicate clearly
