Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Communications and Marketing Manager to develop and implement the faculty marketing and recruitment strategy utilising a broad range of channels and platforms including digital campaigns, recruitment events, social media and online content.

You will be a dynamic, results-orientated leader who can multi-task and is not afraid to roll their sleeves up. A large component of this role is to build our brand and reputation to inspire and attract a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate students and promote the faculty’s research and its impact on our lives The faculty is also committed to our equity strategy which supports growing the number of women in engineering and Tauira Maori & Pacifika students. You will be passionate about this vision and motivated to build awareness, engagement and ultimately student numbers within these target groups.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be a persuasive communicator with excellent presentation and content writing skills
  • Be able to demonstrate innovative and creative ideas and experience which will align with and deliver our strategic vision
  • Be an excellent people-manager with the ability to set clear direction to meet agreed objectives
  • Have high-level people-skills in order to collaboratively liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to demonstrate expertise in web content development and management
  • Clear understanding of digital channels, content marketing and social media to tell compelling stories, drive brand affinity and connection with future students.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

You will manage a team of 6 who are committed to promoting the inspiring work from staff and students across teaching and research to enhance brand reputation. Our team is confident and competent in their roles, and our next marketing and communications manager will help lead and empower this team to go from strength to strength.

You will act as a sounding board and provide strategic direction to your team and work collaboratively with our university marketing and communications team as well as other faculties.
