Communications Manager

AirMap's Communications Manager is responsible for educating and inspiring audiences across various industries and interest groups about the potential of low-altitude aviation. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

 

You will help shape our strategic communications and policy efforts around the world. You will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns based on understanding of journalists' interests; develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns; and counter misinformation that might interfere with our business and ability to serve our users.

 

You will report to the head of marketing. You will have the opportunity to own key pieces of our corporate and consumer communications programming. You are comfortable developing proactive, positive AirMap campaigns as well as policy and crisis response. You will have a chance to wear many hats and work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment while building relationships within the tech, aviation, and policy industries.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with AirMap marketing team to develop a strategic, long-term global media relations campaign (media relations and speaking engagements) and oversee execution
  • Work with global agency partners to develop creative PR programming that scales, driving adoption of AirMap solutions.
  • Identify incredible technology, people and corporate stories within AirMap
  • Serve as an internal resource for product and business teams, providing strategic positioning and counsel as needed
  • Create content such as press releases, presentations, messaging documents, online copy, social media, b-roll and more.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 4 years of experience generating local and national coverage for technology brand
  • Experience at a PR agency or experience managing a PR agency.
  • Experience organizing and pushing a program forward, identifying a clear path for all parties and keeping the group on time and on goal.
  • Start-up mentality: eager, efficient worker who thrives when working across internal and external parties, often with blurry project definition. Ability to switch gears in the wake of rapidly-changing priorities, while ensuring no projects slips through the cracks.
  • Polished writer with attention to detail.
  • Ability to condense large amounts of technical information into material that is easy to share and understand.
  • Positive energy and collaborative with excellent communication skills.
  • Comfortable working across multiple time zones and willing to travel up to 15%
