General Description of the Program

GOAL opened an office in Turkey in 2012. Subsequently, GOAL has worked towards creating a multi-donor programme in the southeast region with a particular focus on health care programming, livelihoods and education.


General Description of the Role:

The role entails managing the GOAL Communications team, overseeing all internal and external GOAL communications material, and reporting directly to the GOAL Country Director (CD). The Communications Manager and his/her team will support the GOAL country programme with high-quality communication products for a wide spectrum of audiences. These will range from, but not be restricted to, donors, beneficiaries, the general public, GOAL staff, and other humanitarian organisations.


Key Duties:

  • To direct and oversee a constant liaison between the Communications Team and all GOAL departments, the object of which is to collect high quality blogs/Vlogs, beneficiary stories, photographs and video footage for communications and advocacy purposes, as outlined in GOAL’s Media Guidelines and as per donor guidelines and the needs of the GOAL team.
  • Disseminate quality communications and products to Turkey offices and teams.
  • Identify new content for stories/blogs/Vlogs, sharing ideas for new content.
  • Maintain an effective filing system of communications materials.
  • Complete weekly reports to the CD to report on work carried out in the previous week.
  • To carry out any other duties outlined by the Country Director.

Requirements (Personal Specification)

  • Completed 3rd level education (university).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in media/communications
  • Excellent photography, filming and video editing skills
  • Ability to manage a team and build the capacity of team members
  • Good communication skills (written, spoken), demonstrable writing skills and fluency in Turkish and English, with additional skill in Arabic language highly desirable
