About the role:

The Client Engineer will be part of Global team that supports all end-user devices and operating systems to ensuring they are provisioned consistently, securely, and meet SmartBear standards. This individual will be based in the Somerville office and will partner Service Desk to ensure that all hardware and software can be deployed and updated centrally. Additionally, this role plays a big part in our vulnerability mitigation efforts on all end-user devices. Be able to automate, configure, and script solutions will be keys to success.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform operational activities as defined by Configuration Management policies and procedures
  • Work with team to develop and maintain policies, processes, and procedures to drive continuous improvement
  • Work with team to fulfill Configuration Management Service Requests as assigned
  • Act as escalation point for software configuration and deployment issues
  • Support, automate, and provision systems and business applications
  • Craft clear and concise documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Work with team to engage with strategic projects to ensure Configuration Management can deliver required functionality within project timeframes
  • Performs Configuration Management audit
  • Identifies Service Improvement opportunities
  • Tracking compliance to policies and procedures and resolving / escalating any compliance issues
  • Reviews and publishes configuration management reporting
  • Build, test and deploy the desktop image management solution
  • Package, test and deploy business software applications
  • Execute inventory management processes of end-user hardware and software assets
  • Create scripting solutions within PowerShell for various administrative needs
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of new hardware models
  • Participate in standard image development, management, testing, and deployment
  • Maintain deployments & upgrades, and patched for Windows, Linux, and Mac Operating Systems
  • Remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with policies and procedures
  • Identifies and reports non-compliance situations
  • Work closely with Security to plan, coordinate, and implement security measures and safeguards across managed systems

We are looking for someone who has (Qualifications):

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience working in IT in enterprise environment
  • Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills required
  • Strong IT foundational knowledge and understanding of core network technologies required
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Experience working within a global enterprise environment supporting the business needs of multiple offices in different countries and regions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and time management skills
  • Ability to manage a multitude of complex tasks and responsibilities
  • Nice to have experience with Configuration Management tools and MDM solutions
  • Experience with provisioning Windows, Mac, Linux Operating systems
  • Solid experience in managing and customizing the Task Sequence, VBScripting, and PowerShell scripting
  • Strong understanding of OS system settings, management settings and navigation
