Kabam Vancouver is looking for a sharp and analytical Controller who will partner with the business and create new strategies to drive efficiency and best practices, ultimately positioning Kabam for success. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will also manage a small team made up of both accounting, payroll and accounts payable functions. Kabam develops and publishes hit-titles such as Marvel: Contest of Champions and the upcoming Transformers: Forged to Fight.

You will contribute by:

  • Managing the Company’s global accounting and transaction processing operations (including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets and general accounting) to drive accurate financial records with efficient well-controlled global processes
  • Implementing and managing an efficient corporate and subsidiary close and reporting cycle to ensure timely and accurate reporting.  Direct accounting activities including consolidation of financial statements
  • Implementing leading practices and process improvements to streamline the monthly close, reduce cycle time and improve information quality
  • Providing technical accounting leadership and guidance on significant and complex accounting matters especially those related to the dynamic and evolving virtual game industry
  • Maintaining Company global accounting policies, practices and controls for compliance with IFRS and accounting best practices
  • Implementing improvements and changes to address evolving external standards and new business requirements
  • Ensuring that adequate internal controls related to accounting and financial reporting are maintained, documented and tested. Evaluate control weaknesses and implement improvements to effectively address issues
  • Managing external and statutory financial audits:  
    • Coordinate and communicate with external auditors as required to insure effective audit and controls testing process.  
    • Implementing accounting policy and process changes that improve corporate and statutory audit efficiency.  
    • Assisting international finance personnel with the timely completion of statutory audits and ensure complete understanding of local statutory reports versus IFRS reported results.

And that’s where you come in...

Adding to the mix, your background should include:

  • 8+ years of experience, including 3+ years in the capacity of Controller or Assistant Controller, preferably with public company within the tech industry
  • Leadership experience in a professional setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with professional designation
  • Extensive consolidation experience in multi currency environment
  • Has a combination of best-in-class experience and has worked in an environment where “rolling up your sleeves” is a no-brainer
  • Strong Financial Management, Financial Reporting and Business Analysis experience
  • In-depth working knowledge of IFRS, Canadian and US tax laws and payroll
  • An individual that is a strong advocate of teamwork and collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively at all levels, and across organizations
  • Uncompromising professional integrity with high level of respect for all individuals
  • Excellent problem solving and analytic abilities
  • Strong process and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and activities to meet tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience with accounting for revenue from global online sales and associated sales taxes
  • Experience working at the Canadian headquarter of an organization with US subsidiaries
  • Experience managing third party payments and royalties
  • Experience in managing SR&ED is an asset
  • Experience as an ERP system administrator is an asset (preferably NetSuite)
  • Experience working for a Korean parent company is an asset
