So, what’s the role?

The Controller is a highly visible member of the Finance Department reporting to the CFO. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, experience with a public/pre-public company, and have a passion for insurtech.

A day in the life could include: 

  • Managing & growing a senior level accounting team
  • Installing and administering a controls framework and mindset
  • Interpreting and implementing new accounting pronouncements and SEC reporting requirements
  • Managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and consolidations process
  • Ensuring appropriate accounting for potential M&A transactions
  • Managing external relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, etc.
  • Implementing processes to facilitate growth; both new products and geographies
  • Providing thought leadership on emerging accounting trends

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting
  • Controllership / reporting experience at publicly traded companies
  • Statutory and GAAP technical knowledge
  • IPO experience
  • Insurance industry experience (P&C)
  • Enterprise general ledger implementation experience
  • Preferably have earlier stage company experience - comfortable in a dynamic, high-growth environment
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant regulation and regulatory bodies
  • Have a very strong entrepreneurial drive
  • CPA required
