Corporate Business Development Executive

As a Business Development Executive based in the New York office, the candidate will be responsible for running their territory as their own business. This includes, but is not limited to: prospecting, sourcing, managing trials and negotiation of new business contracts for Mergermarket. The role provides an ideal opportunity for individuals wishing to gain an insight into the world of Mergers & Acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Selling Mergermarket services to new corporate subscribers against a monthly target
  • Consistent delivery of individual new business sales targets on a monthly basis
  • Develop and maintain a continuous pipeline of new business sales leads
  • The candidate will be required to find target subscribers, make initial contact, establish the relationship and develop the business - managing the full sales cycle from start to finish
  • Present live or remote product demonstrations for prospects
  • Participation in the strategic development of the Mergermarket offering for corporate users
  • Develop and cultivate relationships at the highest levels within prospects
  • Ensure all existing and potential prospect/client activity is logged in the required CRM tool in the form of calls/tasks or meetings
  • Process all administrative tasks in a timely fashion
  • Hit a monthly activity metrics targets in accordance with set objectives
  • Plan business trips with a minimum of 5 meetings per day and meet with your manager to discuss the agenda in advance of the trip.
  • Represent the Mergermarket team at required industry events
  • Liaise with the sales and CRM teams in the US and globally
  • Work collaboratively with other products in The Mergermarket Group to optimize revenues for the overall business


Job Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial approach, proven sales skills and a desire to exceed targets. Excellent relationships across Fortune 500 companies would be a distinct advantage. A very strong candidate would have the following attributes:

  • Previous Business Development or Sales experience of 2-3 years
  • Experience in an outside and/or inside sales role
  • Experience working with and presenting to senior level executives
  • Subscription Sales model experience
  • M&A knowledge
  • Proven track record of working to a revenue target
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • College Degree
