Protective Summer Intern Program Overview 
Are you driven to succeed and willing to be flexible in order to grow? Are you looking for the opportunity to utilize your classroom knowledge in a hands-on, business setting? Do you seek opportunities to develop and learn new skills? If your answer to these questions is “yes,” then you could be a fit for Protective’s Summer Internship Program! Our Internship Program is a 10-week program that provides high-performing college students with paid, hands-on experience, mentoring and insight into our business operations. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with business leaders to develop and execute solutions to real business problems. In addition to gaining meaningful work experience, interns will have the opportunity to participate in various community and professional development events. Protective Life has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers. 
The Protective Summer Internship program begins in late-May. Internships are available at our corporate office in Birmingham, AL.

What would be a day in the life for your intern? (What will they be doing day to day): Helping draft stories for
Indigo. Helping review and improve overall site design on Indigo. Creating posters and digital signage. Reviewing analytics for Indigo. Supporting town halls.

  • Writing, Journalism
  • Business

Technical skills:

  • Strong writing skills required.
  • Project management
  • Graphic design would be nice to have.
  • Research/analytic mindset.

What to expect as a Protective Intern:

  • Potential for full-time employment offer upon the successful completion of internship  
  • Housing offered on as needed basis 
  • Hourly wage of $19/hr; 40 hours a week M-F

Protective’s targeted Pay rate for this position is $19. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
