Your Opportunity

New Relic is looking for a Corporate Development Manager who will play an important role in the company’s end-to-end acquisition processes. You will be involved in all aspects of New Relic’s corporate development and strategic activities and will play a crucial role in the future of our company.

We’re looking for someone who is a natural problem solver and is always curious, eager to dive in and think big to improve processes and make impact. As a great addition to our team, you’ll have strong strategic and quantitative analysis skills and communication and negotiating skills to match.

Please note, this position is located in San Francisco and will report to the SVP of Corporate Strategy & Development.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Executive and Product Leadership to develop, update and execute a M&A strategy aligned with New Relic’s corporate and product priorities
  • Work with our leadership team to proactively identify sector themes and potential acquisition targets to support corporate and product priorities
  • Lead market research projects and company landscape analyses; drive data-driven analyses to inform decision-making; assist with New Relic’s broader corporate and product strategy formulation
  • Quarterback the end-to-end transaction process including performing strategic and quantitative analysis; driving the business case and financial modeling; conducting due diligence; determining appropriate valuation and transaction structure; and making recommendations to New Relic’s Executive Team
  • Serve as a primary point of contact to target company management during the entire transaction lifecycle
  • Develop strategy for and conduct negotiations, directly with target management or in partnership with the VP
  • Lead a cross-functional team involving Product, Go-To-Market, Finance, Legal, PeopleOps, IT and outside advisors during transaction execution to drive cross-functional activities and the deal process to closure
  • Define integration plans and assist with post-closing integration planning and execution
  • Drawing from prior experience, a network of industry contacts, and learnings from prior transactions, partner with the VP to develop and operationalize strategies and best practices to help New Relic scale its Corporate Development function
  • Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts, venture capital investors and investment bankers to identify industry trends and proactively build an opportunity pipeline

Your Qualifications


  • 10+ years of work experience, including 4+ years in M&A / Corporate Development.
  • BA or BS undergraduate degree and an MBA (and/or JD)
  • Prior experience leading all aspects of acquisition and investment transactions in-house at a technology company
  • Strong skills in strategic and quantitative analysis, project management, coupled with strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to gain trust, negotiate business objectives and work directly with senior executives throughout the company
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, quickly changing and sometimes unstructured environment
  • Team player, proactive and action oriented, anticipates needs, assertive, highly accountable and feels deep ownership for your work and the success of your project
  • Strategic thinker, intellectually curious, problem solver, process-improvement mindset, with a passion for the software industry (especially SaaS, enterprise software)
  • A network of tech industry and venture capital contacts, especially within the startup community


  • Experience from advisory positions in investment banking, venture capital, legal or consulting firms
  • Work experience in a corporate (as opposed to professional services) environment
