Creative Director

As Hornet’s Creative Director you will lead our company's creative initiatives hands-on.  You will work closely with the graphic design and the content team to deliver engaging content that express Hornet's unique position in the marketplace as the world's Gay Social Network, the place where gay life happens - anytime, anywhere.

You will report to the head of marketing (currently the CEO) and play a key role in scaling the company to support ambitious growth objectives. Your ideas will need to be executed with limited budgets and hands-on work by yourself. The campaigns will the target 30 million existing users within the Hornet app as well as potential new users, for instance on social media.

You should be extremely creative, dedicated, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Your portfolio of work should demonstrate that you can express yourself with authenticity, wittiness, irreverence, and playfulness.

You should be highly organized and able to hold in your mind details from a number of different areas simultaneously, be able to effectively prioritize, be adaptable, agile,and have a strong action-bias. You are an exceptional executor.

As a personality we’re looking for someone who is smart, humble, hard working, quietly confident, respectful, action-biased, driven, ambitious, solutions-orientated, and hungry for knowledge. Your style should be open, inclusive, trustworthy, and a collaborative team player. You’ll also need good energy and stamina. You should have an appreciation of making an impact on the global LGBT community, of creative content and fast-growth tech or platform companies. You are familiar with globally distributed team working remotely most of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the brand team to produce new ideas for company branding, promotional campaigns, and marketing communications.
  • Evaluate trends, assess new data and keep up-to-date with the latest marketing techniques.
  • Assist fellow team  members in resolving issues by responding to questions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Create and implement tailored marketing plans based on mutually agreed priorities.
  • Direct brainstorming meetings and creative sessions.
  • Shape brand standards and create procedures to ensure all products are brand appropriate.
  • Supervise the team's workflow, assign project workload, and monitor deadlines and budgets.
  • Develop exceptional and well-crafted copy that meet clients’ requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism and other relevant fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ digital experience, particularly with, but not limited to web, apps, social and emerging technologies.
  • A solid understanding of design, copy and web practices.
  • Brilliant interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of brand development and multichannel marketing models.
  • Must be a creative and strategic thinker.
