Position Purpose:

The Credit Control Lead drives student achievement in the SPARK Schools network by ensuring that invoiced amounts are collected in accordance with the cash-flow budgets, thereby securing the long-term financial viability of the company and ensuring that a high-quality product can be delivered to students on a consistent basis.

The Credit Control Lead is integral to the SPARK Schools Support mission to create systemic change in South African education.


  • Managing a fast-growing credit control team
  • Oversight of the management of arrear accounts
  • Authorisation of accounts for legal handover
  • Reporting to directors on debt collection status, overdue accounts
  • Advising on improvements in credit control practices/processes
  • Oversight of accounts reconciliations
  • Assisting with collection of outstanding accounts through both telephonic and written communication when needed
  • Assisting with resolving of queries from customers
  • Oversight of administration and communications with customers/parents through SPARK Schools accounts parent portal
  • Interacting with other internal departments to obtain appropriate information to correct customer accounts where needed
  • Matric/Equivalent
  • Computer literate
  • Credit control/debt collection background
  • Corporate credit control experience a distinct advantage
  • At least 5 years experience in the above role, of which 2 years related to managing a team
  • Appropriate training or diploma relating to credit management
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-growing environment
  • Ability to participate as a team member and achieve agreed objectives
  • Ability to manage relationships effectively
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and prioritise
  • An assertive but tactful manner
