We are looking for a people orientated CTO to help take Lendable to our next level of scale. This is a unique opportunity to take charge of and continue to build a world class engineering team at a very important time for Lendable. We are in the process of building two brand new products for launch this year and have recently expanded and restructured the team to work across 4 product areas; loans, cards, auto’s and collections.

We are looking for someone to carry the technical vision for Lendable. Someone, who can also connect deeply with software engineers as well as other business leaders both internally and externally. We have a world class team combined with extremely low attrition and it’ll be the job of the next CTO to carry on this legacy whilst continuing to scale the team as needed. You’ll be working closely with our leadership team across several areas so having the ability to remove your technical hat and think with a product and commercial mindset is very important. 

On the technical front, we don’t need you to be hands on coding today, however, you should have been deeply technical at some point with the ability to be able to make tough decisions when needed. Building products with high availability, performance and volume will be a key challenge you’ll face day to day.

What we’re looking for:

  • Technical; We would expect you to keep up with the latest trends, but we’re not looking for you to be writing code. The job requires a deep understanding of relational databases, continuous delivery, system architecture, agile methodologies and workflow management tools. Experience in managing projects that had high availability and scalability at their core are a plus (our credit card product has particularly high requirements)
  • Business acumen; the ability to pair your sharp technical skills with critical business and product thinking
  • Management; at least 3 years experience managing high calibre engineering teams, ideally multi product teams and / or engineering teams of 30+ engineers
  • Empathy; the ability to engage with a diverse range of people and truly understand what makes people tick
  • Communication; ability to switch between speaking tech with engineers through to product and commercial with other business leaders, partners and external executives
  • Security; experience managing data security where highly sensitive personal data is being held


What will be expected of you:

  • Collaborate with the C suite to set out and measure the company goals as part of our quarterly OKR cycles
  • Guide the strategic direction of the company from a technological standpoint
  • Maintain Lendable’s culture of ruthless efficiency and keep pushing for more automation to  stay ahead of our competitors
  • Balance product delivery timelines with technical excellence and continuous improvement of our codebases
  • Coach, motivate, and grow your team of 20 engineers to 30-40 in the next two years whilst embodying and championing the Lendable spirit of efficiency 
  • Maintain the overall health, happiness and productivity of the Engineering team
  • Work closely with external vendors and 3rd parties around due diligence, auditing, technical certifications and more
  • Identify, empower and mentor other members of the team to help you achieve all of the above
