Guidewire is hiring a

Data & Analytics Senior Product Manager - Exton, PA

Exton, United States

Do you get excited about using data to solve real-world business problems?  Do you care about great software designs? Does finding ways to capture the proliferation and variety of new data sources interest you?  Can you find the optimal solution given conflicting priorities?

If so, then being a Guidewire Product Manager might be the right role for you.  Product managers at Guidewire assume a wide range of responsibilities.  You should be comfortable both engaging in product design discussions with developers and presenting to prospective customers.  Our product managers are the glue that hold together our minimally-supervised teams; you will be at the center of our Data & Analytics product development effort.

Here’s what you’ll get to do every day:

  • Gather feedback from our customers and from our internal engineering teams.  Often, this means talking to customers about specific business problems and understanding what challenges they have and how data solutions they are looking for to address these challenges.
  • Drive product development as the agile product owner; you will work with our engineering team in Exton, PA to bring new data-driven features to market.
  • Prioritize feature work, groom product backlogs, and co-ordinate with other Guidewire teams.
  • Gather and define the requirements that will be used to research and innovate new methods of data acquisition, data integration and data publication.
  • Be the expert who can help customers, QA, support, sales, and other groups with questions about the data products.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to provide expertise and to help create sales tools and collateral. (Guidewire has a separate Product Marketing function that is directly responsible for messaging and collateral.)

What you bring to the role:

  • Passion for data, and curiosity around how we can use data applications to help our customers adapt in the new data centric age and solve current business problems.
  • Enterprise software experience, preferably in a product management or business/data analyst role.
  • Technical capacity. You should feel comfortable with data modeling, extraction, transform, and load (ETL) technologies and concepts, data warehousing architecture and design, and to be able to understand how data relates to end user Business Intelligence (BI) requirements and consumption.  Familiarity with big data and cloud technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate with the engineering team on tactical technical decisions. Programming experience is not required, but is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.  Ability to translate high level requirements into detailed product specifications.
  • Experience with Agile Development practices and processes preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex initiatives with limited supervision.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Good decision-making skills and the ability to excel in a team-oriented environment.
