Data Engineer

The Role:

We’ve scaled fast and this data engineering role is a critical addition to our team. Along side talented engineers you will work up and down our stack to ensure our data platform is predictable, reliable and highly performant.  In this role you will have the opportunity to explore and enhance our core platform,  building tools, frameworks, and solving real world data problems.   This is a unique opportunity not only to build highly scalable systems, but to work on a platform that brings together big data, advanced electronics, and the power of the cloud computing

Meaningful Things You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with experts across data science and software engineering to ensure our data platform is of this highest quality.
  • Help drive the next evolution of our platform to ensure we can scale through our post launch growth phase.
  • Build new tools and frameworks that drive data lifecycle management across our systems.

Education and Experience: 

  • 5+ years experience building backend services in Python
  • Solid background in relational database technologies, Postgres is preferred
  • 2+ years of  hands on experience with with Cassandra or another NoSQL database
  • 2+ yeas experience with AWS and critical services such as S3, RDS, SQS, etc.
  • Experience working in production environments directly with customer data
  • A passion for building tools, and the ability to test them well
  • Experience with Docker, GitHub and other modern technology components  
  • Experience with CircleCI or Travis
  • Familiarity with Raspberry Pi
Bonus points for:
  • Experience EMR or other MapReduce frameworks. 
  • Strong background in multi threading and parallel processing models.
  • Background in performance testing and metrics gathering.
