As a SQL Developer at DraftKings, you will be responsible for the operational support of our mission critical, highly available, large-scale data infrastructure.  You will be a great communicator with a passion for all aspects of database operations from monitoring to performance tuning to change management.

  • Aid in the deployment, maintenance and monitoring of our database environments (OLTP and OLAP) which are highly available and high performing
  • Implement capacity planning best practices and monitoring
  • Participate in planning, maintenance and implementation of all aspects of database disaster recovery
  • Follow database performance best practices
  • Help increase our ever-expanding systems and database documentation when architecting or automating new features
  • Rapidly diagnose and fix problems. Escalate more complicated problems when necessary
  • On-call responsibility (including weekends), required
  • Build and deploy automation and configuration management policies and scripts

Qualifications:

  • Linux and Windows administration experience in an operational environment
  • Knowledgeable and competent in one or more common scripting languages: Perl/Python/Powershell/bash
  • Amazon Web Services database experience (RDS as well as EC2)
  • Should have the skills to triage issues in an end-to-end manner with awareness of how web, application and caching tiers impact database performance and availability
  • Will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and detail-oriented
  • Must thrive in fast paced, results driven environment

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server and Amazon RDS
  • Familiarity with git
