MIRROR is hiring a

Design Lead

New York, United States

About Us

MIRROR is the world’s first nearly invisible home gym featuring live and on-demand fitness classes in a variety of workout genres, and 1:1 personal training. MIRROR is creating a new category of in-home fitness with cutting-edge hardware, responsive software, and best-in-class content that transforms any room into a complete home gym. For the first time, the essential components of a great studio workout--variety, personalization, and community--are brought to the most convenient place: the home.

MIRROR was founded by Harvard grad Brynn Putnam, creator of Refine Method, named “New York’s Smartest Workout.” We recently joined the lululemon family, operating as an independent entity, and now have the resources of a public, global company behind us. We’re an inclusive space for all identities and are committed to keeping that foundation intact as we grow. If you're eager to make an impact in a quickly growing business, we want to hear more from you!

The Role & You

The Design Lead will own the design function at the company and take ownership of MIRROR’s day-to-day design operations, while reporting directly to the CEO to shape the product’s future and create world-class experiences for our customers. MIROR is a uniquely design-driven company, and as a leader and individual contributor within the team you must be strategic, detail oriented, and able to articulate and execute a broad strategy while simultaneously facilitating the day-to-day operations of the Design team. Mirror is experiencing unprecedented growth -- this is an incredibly unique opportunity to make a significant impact at a company that’s still relatively young, but has already established a position in the market and built a small but mighty design team that’s ready to grow with the right leadership.

At MIRROR you will:

  • Lead all Design strategy and execution across MIRROR
  • Work as a hybrid generalist-IC, while also managing and growing the small Design team
  • Work cross-functionally with leadership, product, engineering, and marketing teams to shape and help execute the company’s product and design strategy, and incorporate their input into design work in progress
  • Help take entire product features from concept to completion: moving fluidly between high-level concepting, wireframes, product design, user-interface and interaction design, visual design, storytelling, and prototyping
  • Operate flexibly across different types of projects: sometimes you’ll lay the broad groundwork to set others up for success, and others you’ll provide exceptional hands-on execution along with the rest of the team
  • Manage design operations, balancing the need to move quickly with producing effective design artifacts
  • Help establish and improve the company’s design processes, systems, and norms
  • Work directly with the CEO to help shape the future of the product strategy through design, and communicate this vision to the design and product teams

  • Proficiency with common digital design tools (Figma, Sketch), and prototyping tools (Principle, Figma, Framer, etc)
