Expa is hiring a

DevOps Engineer

New York, United States

Job Summary

We're looking for a DevOps engineer to join Ando, our mobile-first food-delivery brand. You’ll be a part of a team that's responsible for driving the technology that powers our product, working in a fast-paced agile environment alongside some of the brightest engineers in the industry. (Want to learn more? Here's a FastCompany interview with co-founder David Chang.)

The ideal candidate loves building and growing products from a very early stage. And also loves food.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own tools for provisioning, automation, configuration, integration, deployment and release processes
  • Improve the health and availability of our systems through alerting, monitoring, instrumenting, and reporting
  • Measure and improve the performance of our stack through benchmarks, capacity estimation, and troubleshooting
  • Identify and assess new technologies that improve the functionality, effectiveness, and reliability of our systems
  • Build redundancy, contingency and on-call plans for our on-demand lunch service (when webservers go down, people get annoyed; when lunch doesn't arrive, people tend to get angry)

Qualifications

  • Strong Linux administration and network troubleshooting skills (preferably Ubuntu)
  • Prior experience with scripting (Python, Ruby, Bash) in an industry setting; Javascript a plus
  • Implemented and supported user-facing, large-scale, secure tech stacks on AWS; familiar with OpsWorks, S3, EC2, Route53, VPC, Salt/Chef/Puppet/Ansible config management
  • Desire to understand how things work and to build highly available and scalable systems
  • Familiar with modern tech stacks including Postgres, MongoDB, Nginx, Redis/Memcached, as well as dev environments (source control, CI, Crashlytics)
  • Passionate about automating and improving release and deployment processes
  • We like to eat and we don't take ourselves too seriously—everything from Dominoes to Carbone is on the table
