DevOps Engineer

As a member of the DevOps team, you will work closely with our development, QA and operations teams to automate and streamline our platform integration and deployment processes. You will select, configure, support and scale the tools and technologies used by our team to build a highly scalable and manageable environment. You will work on continuous deployment efforts for an ecosystem of applications maintained across multiple data centers and AWS.  You will also look for ways to automate a number of existing support and event management processes.

Our current tools include the following technologies (and we’re open to more): Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Jira, Artifactory, Docker, AWS Service Catalog and Vagrant, plus insight tools like the ELK stack, Zabbix & NewRelic.

Department summary:

In this role you will: 

  • Enable Development and Operations to build and deploy our applications from code to internal and production environments
  • Ensure adequate visibility into application viability and performance via monitoring, thresholding and alerting you establish
  • Standardize, automate and document setup of environments
  • Own and drive improvements to our build and release scripts, tools and processes 
  • Help define best practices automation, orchestration and configuration management
  • Build tools for internal use to support production engineering practices
  • Collaborate with peers on work estimation/planning and implementation of new versions/features of the tools
  • Bring new automation technologies to bear to improve the quality of engineering efforts

Qualifications for success:

  • 2+ years DevOps, tools and/or release engineering experience
  • Strong Bash and Ruby or Python scripting
  • Strong familiarity with Jenkins and distributed version control systems
  • Ability to work with development, QA and Ops counterparts to clarify and tune requirements
  • Strong *nix competence
  • RDBMS DDL and DML competency
  • Hands-on, self-starter
  • Ability to grow & manage small team in future a plus
  • Some java programing experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (or equivalent experience). Computer Science/Engineering major is preferable.
