The Verana Health DevOps team is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer who will play an integral role to help us achieve our mission. The DevOps Engineer will be a critical member of the DevOps team, helping convert existing AWS infrastructure into IAC, providing technical guidance to other teams, working to enable development and data engineering teams to produce at greater efficiency and much more.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provision and manage new AWS infrastructure using IAC tools such as Terraform, Ansible and the Serverless Framework
  • Participate in the conversion of existing AWS infrastructure to IAC
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD automation
  • Work with engineering teams to provide guidance on development best practices
  • Seek to optimize cloud costs through more efficient patterns and architecture
  • Aid the release manager by ensuring smooth running and effective CI/CD tooling and processes
  • Stay up to date on DevOps industry best practices and fine tune to build a world class DevOps ecosystem
  • Meticulously document architectures, processes and anything which cannot be codified

Basic Requirements

  • Knowledge of/experience with a wide array of AWS services such as: Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, S3, EC2, EMR, Fargate/ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift
  • Experience working on CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with IAC tools such as Terraform and Ansible (or Chef)
  • Docker container management/deployment experience
  • Python
  • Strong Git knowledge
  • Experience working with Jira/Confluence
  • Understanding of good development design patterns such as AWS Well Architected and 12 Factor principles
  • AWS Certifications at associate level or above greatly desired

Bonus points

  • Experience developing/deploying serverless apps with the Serverless Framework
  • Step functions
  • Rundeck experience
  • Experience working in a big data environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare industry context (HIPAA etc…)
